This course is designed for both by-standers and first responders. Wilderness rescuers need to know how to avoid, prevent, and prepare for emergencies in the back country, when medical help is not readily available. A half day of class room time and an addition half day of outdoor scenario practice of first aid and leadership skills. This class focuses on practicing skills and covers: patient assessment, shock and bleeding, head and spinal injuries, wounds, musculoskeletal injuries, heat and cold illnesses and much more. There will be role playing scenarios, bandaging and splinting, litter carriers, triage, patient assessment, spinal management, back-boarding, and outdoor simulated accidents. Gain some good tools and knowledge to handle a wilderness first aid emergency.
Successful completion of class includes a Wilderness First Aid certificate.
