Instructor Coordinator Initial and refresher courses

This course is designed for licensed Emergency Medical Services personnel interested in becoming licensed Instructor/Coordinators or for current instructors interested in upgrading their teaching skills. This course follows the National Instructor Curriculum as published by NHTSA. This course follows a blended format: attendance is required for the MDHHS and NREMT orientation; the rest of the class is 50/50 online and classroom review. Sanilac Medical Services will assist the students in arranging the required 30 hours of student teaching. 

Requirements: Once registration and payments are complete students are required to submit 2 letters of endorsement from active IC’s by October 28, 2019. For licensure eligibility you will have to document 3 years of field experience, verified by your employer. IC activities are tied to your provider license and you may only participate in activities to that level.

*Times: Classroom Times are Wednesdays from 8:00 am to 4:30pm beginning October 30,2019 to December 11th 2019  one day a week in class with the remainder of class online.

The Instructor/Coordinator Refresher Course is designed to meet the continuing education requirements to renew an IC license. This course expands on the knowledge that effective EMS educators already have and allow IC's to share their tricks of trade to help improve EMS programs. The student will be re-familiarized with theories of learning and teaching the adult learner. Preparation of educational materials, along with methods of teaching and evaluation. Utilizing technology inside and outside of the classroom. And last but not least, presentation of material, and administrative issues relating to teaching an EMS course. 


This IC Refresher course is 30 hours of instruction.

Seating is limited to 20 seats due to space so register early.
