Instructor Coordinator Initial and refresher courses
The Instructor/Coordinator Course is designed to prepare the EMS provider in becoming an effective educator. The student will become familiar with theories of learning and teaching the adult learner. Preparation of educational materials, along with methods of teaching and evaluation. Utilizing technology inside and outside of the classroom. And last but not least, presentation of material, and administrative issues relating to teaching an EMS course. Upon successful completion, the student will meet the requirements to take the State of Michigan Instructor Coordinator Exam. The course includes 148 hours of classroom time and 30 hours of student teaching. The student will be expected to maintain a minimum grade of 80% to be eligible to remain in the course, with an 80% or higher on the final written exam.

*Times: Mondays, Thursdays and Occasional Saturdays

*Must be 18 years or older to apply for an IC license with MDHHS after the program completion.
*Must be a high school graduate or have a GED.
*Have a current Michigan EMS License with a minimum of 3 years experience working at your current licensure level with an EMS Agency.
*Must submit 2 letters of recommendation with 1 being from a licensed EMT I/C.
*Cost of this course is $700.00, not including Text Book
